On Saturday, Gloucestershire won the C Division final by beating Somerset 2-1. The B Division final was a close run affair between Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire. It was 3-3 at full time with Bedfordshire winning on penalties.
Rich was once again playing for Warwickshire in the A Division on Sunday. The day started with Yorkshire coming from behind against Sussex to win 2-1 with goals from Sheffield's Will Hearne and David Smith. Warwickshire were drawn against Berkshire; here are some photos of the action.
Rich's shot was straight at the keeper who deflected it away with his pads
Gear mesmerising the opposition with his stare
Warwickshire won 2-0 with a penalty corner from Alex Penney after quarter of an hour and the clincher from Rich in the second half
The manager (Gear's father, Roger) was well-pleased.
So to the final - Warwickshire against the host county, Yorkshire. This once again meant that Rich would be playing against some former Sheffield and Yorkshire (junior) team-mates.
Sadly Rich made what seemed to be an innocuous tackle which the umpire thought was more serious and sent him to the "naughty chair" for a 5 minute suspension
Gear in action against Yorkshire's captain, Tim Deakin
Yorkshire went into a comfortable 3-0 lead with two from Doncaster's Jonathan Redfern and a penalty stroke converted by Lachlan Brownhalls (also from Doncaster)
Rich scored a consolation goal in the last minute but Yorkshire were worthy winners
So to the presentations
Tournament Director - Steve Catton
England Hockey Board Vice President, David Whittle, presented the medals ...
to the runners up ...
... and to the winners
... and the trophy to the Yorkshire skipper
... followed by a few words from Captain Tim
