The Trail to Endmoor

The date : April 18
The route: Kendal, via Lancaster Canal Trail, to Endmoor

Starting in Kendal, join the Canal Trail at Canal Head North and head on National Cycle Route 6 to Natland Road. After about 50 yards join the footpath - signposted to Tewitfield. This path follows the route of the canal and towpath past Natland and Sedgewick but the canal is dry until Stainton.

A short detour after Sedgewick to visit Levens Hall and Park

Back to the Canal Trail and to Hincaster Tunnel. This was used by horse drawn barges to link the gunpowder factory at Sedgewick with Lancaster. There was no footpath in the tunnel so the horses had to be led up and over the tunnel whilst the barge workers "walked" the barge through the tunnel.

Then leave the Canal Trail and head along A65 to Endmoor
